Limerick City Gallery of Art is one of the leading contemporary art galleries in Ireland and home to an important collection of Irish 18th -21st century art in all media.
Limerick City Gallery of Art is the largest contemporary art gallery in the Mid-Western Region, annually exhibiting national and international artists in a diverse exhibition programme.
LCGA also holds the National Collection of Contemporary Drawing, the Michael O’Connor International Poster Collection. Artists included in our collections are Seán Keating, Jack Yeats, Paul Henry, Grace Henry, Sir William Orpen, John Shinnors, Donald Teskey, and many more.
Exhibitions from our Permanent Collection are exhibited along with our contemporary exhibitions.
LCGA is housed in the Carnegie Building which is a two storey building with 650 square meters of exhibition space between the two floors. Also within the building is a café area which looks onto the People’s Park at the rear of gallery.
Limerick City Gallery of Art is a constituent body of Limerick City & County Council, and receives annual funding from the Arts Council Ireland for its contemporary exhibition schedule. It is also supported by the Heritage Council of Ireland and FÁS.
