Limerick St. Patrick’s Festival 2024 was enjoyed by tens of thousands of people in the city over the Bank Holiday weekend. With two major parades, exciting street shows, the panoramic wheel and lots of lively live music and dance, there truly was a different kind of energy in the air.
A new video, commissioned by the Marketing and Communications Department at Limerick City and County Council and produced by videographer Paul Corey captures the colour, excitement and joy of the festivities across the weekend.
Favourable weather helped draw over 50,000 people into the city to cheer on more than 70 groups and communities taking part in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday. Highlights included a giant snake that charmed onlookers, while Mirror dancers added some sparkle and an army of St. Patricks sang and danced their way along the parade route.
Thousands more people enjoyed energetic performances at the 52nd International Band Championship Parade and live music jamboree in the park on Bank Holiday Monday. The 110 strong Lakeville South Marching Cougars from Minnesota took the top prize. See the full list of winners on Limerick.ie.
Eugene Crimmins – Festivals and Events Officer, Limerick City and County Council said:
“I was once again blown away by the enthusiasm of the people of Limerick at the St. Patrick’s Festival this year. It was uplifting to see so many happy faces on the young and young at heart as they enjoyed the celebrations in our vibrant city. The feedback has been hugely positive and it makes the long hours of work involved in planning and executing this festival worth it. I want to thank all the participants whose talent and creativity made for memorable moments, many of them captured in this fantastic video. Enjoy.”
The Panoramic Wheel will continue to spin in Arthur’s Quay Park until 14 April.
