Limerick City and County Council Announces ‘A More Fun Limerick’ as Theme for St. Patrick’s Festival 2025

Groups invited to register for St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2025.

Limerick City and County Council is delighted to announce the theme for this year's St. Patrick's Festival: "A More Fun Limerick."  

This exciting theme aims to highlight the vibrant and playful spirit of Limerick, promising a festival filled with joy, creativity, and community engagement. 

The festival, set to take place from 15 – 17 March, will feature a variety of events designed to bring smiles to faces of all ages. From lively parades and street performances to family-friendly activities and cultural showcases, "A More Fun Limerick" will transform the city and county into a hub of celebration and entertainment. 

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran is looking forward to the festival, commenting:

"Delivering more for Limerick is the key ambition of Limerick City and County Council and that includes having more fun, so I am incredibly excited about this year's St. Patrick’s Festival theme. 'A More Fun Limerick' perfectly captures the essence of our community. It is why we all love living here. We NOW look forward to seeing everyone come together to celebrate in a way that truly reflects the spirit of Limerick."

The St. Patrick’s Festival is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the unique creativity and distinctive charm that Limerick has to offer. Festival Favourites 

The  53rd Limerick International Band Championship will take place on Sunday, 16 March, while the traditional St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Monday, 17 March.  

The public are invited to enjoy a musical Jamboree at Arthur’s Quay Park following the International Band Championship parade on the Sunday.  

The vibrant and colourful St. Patrick’s Day parade will follow the same route as 2024, making it’s way down O’Connell Street before moving on to Henry Street and ending at Arthur’s Quay Park.   

The International Band Championship will also follow the same route as last year but the start point has moved to the Junction of O’Connell Street and Barrington Street. 

The Universal access area for both parades is at The Crescent, O’Connell Street. 

Details of a full programme of events across the St. Patrick’s Festival weekend will be revealed in the coming weeks. 

Limerick City and County Council is seeking participants for the St. Patrick’s Day parade who can now REGISTER their interest. 

Limerick City and County Council’s Festival and Events Officer, Eugene Crimmins, stated:
