Sinead Mc Donnell, Environment Awareness Officer with Limerick City and County Council said: “Green-Schools is the leading environmental education programme for primary and secondary schools. It is student led and promotes long-term, whole-school action for the environment. I would encourage every school to participate in these free online Teacher Training workshops.”
According to the latest NOAC Local Authority Performance Indicator Report, 37 per cent of Limerick schools currently hold and have renewed their green flag status in the two years to 31 December 2020.
The Green Schools project is coordinated nationally by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce (FEE member for Ireland) and supported locally by Limerick City and County Council.
