Limerick City and County Council is pleased to announce the signing of contracts with Jada Projects Limited for the development of nine new social housing units in Church Glen, Ballylanders, Co. Limerick. The project, valued at €2,598,286 (excluding VAT), marks a significant step forward in addressing the housing needs of the community.
The new development will consist of five houses (one 3-bed unit, three 2-bed units, and one 1-bed unit) and four 1-bed apartments. The site, a greenfield location within the existing Church Glen housing estate, will undergo extensive landscaping, including new footpaths, a new entrance, and boundary treatments that incorporate and protect existing native hedgerows. Additionally, the existing foul and storm drainage systems servicing the site will be upgraded as part of the works.
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, welcomed the project, saying,
"This development shows our commitment to providing housing solutions for the people of Limerick. Having developments across the county is important to developing Limerick in a sustainable way as outlined in the ‘More for Limerick’ programme, we are dedicated to ensuring access to safe and comfortable homes for all."
Cathaoirleach of the Cappamore / Killmallock Municipal District, Councillor Martin Ryan, emphasised the importance of the development for the rural village, saying,
"The provision of these social housing units in Ballylanders represents a significant investment in the future of the village. The development will provide much-needed homes for families and individuals, helping to sustain the vibrancy and growth of Ballylanders."
Director of Services, Housing at Limerick City and County Council, Caroline Curley commented:
"I'm delighted to see this scheme of 9 housing units moving forward and look forward to the allocation of these highly anticipated homes in Q4 2026. This development emphasises Limerick City and County Council's focus on tackling housing demands and upgrading local infrastructure. We are not just fulfilling immediate needs but also working to keep our county towns and villages lively and thriving.”
The construction of the new social housing units is set to commence shortly and demonstrates Limerick City and County Council's ongoing commitment to addressing housing needs across the region.
