Ballinvreena has so much to offer; crossroads dancing, drama, an annual flower show, the weekly bingo and card playing.
Ballinvreena Crossroads Dancing
At the turn of the century, crossroads dancing at Corbett’s Cross, Ballinvreena was one of the main social activities of the area. Locals, both young and old, came to the dance which became their weekly meeting place. In 1972, being the first in it's kind in Ireland, Ronnie Drew and The Dubliners entertained in an open air concert which was a marvellous success.
Conscious of the return of Irish dancing to the country, Ballinvreena Community decided that the time was now right to return to its roots. Today you can still experience the magic of that traditional crossroads dancing to live music
Crossroads dancing takes place from May to September every Sunday from 8pm - 10pm. Great music, dancing, and of course tea and cake at Davy's cottage.
