Castleconnell Boat Club
Castleconnell Boat Club, situated in a unique and picturesque location on the banks of the River Shannon in the village of Castleconnell, was founded in 1983, and is run by a small, dedicated team of volunteers, parents and coaches with the aim of helping people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the sport of rowing.The club is open to members from 11 years and up.
GAA
Castleconnell and Ahane have a long history of GAA in the area. Hurling, Bord na nÓg, Camogie, and Gaelic Football Clubs are open to all to join.
Castleconnell's River Walks follow the banks of the River Shannon and are considered to be one of Limerick’s best kept secrets, while a summer walk in Castleconnell Bog is the best time for wildlife when the bog comes alive with flowers, insects and birds.
This Castleconnell Slí na Sláinte begins at the Ferry Car Park beside the playground and continues for 3.8km, bringing you back to your starting point via the castle ruin.
Fishing
A beautiful location on the River Shannon, Castleconnell is about 10 kms north east of Limerick City and tidal water, and is one of the most prestigious Salmon Fisheries in Ireland.
Visit the Kingfisher Angling Club at PJ Guerins Pub, which also doubles as the tourist information point in Castleconnell, for local fishing information and to purchase salmon and trout licenses and permits.

Music and Dancing
Come along and enjoy a weekly traditional seisiún which takes place in PJ Guerins Pub or Bradshaw's Bar resident Ukulele group, BUGS, meet to play together every Wednesday night. Nicole Sweeney Dance Studio provides classes for girls and boys aged 3 - 18 years, as well as adult fitness classes.
Kayaking
There are regular beginner and improver river trips on a Grade 2 stretch of the River Shannon as it passes through the village of Castleconnell. Limerick Kayak and Canoe Club also have club trips every Sunday. The junior section operates from March to October each year, with weekly evening sessions and some weekend trips.
Located close to Castleconnell village, Limerick Foot Golf is the perfect activity for friends and family of all ages!
Set beside the Shannon River, this is a lovely playground with two interconnected areas for toddlers and older children.
If you go down to the woods today you will be in for a fairy big surprise! After the boys and girls are finished having fun playing on the swings and slides why not take a nice stroll along the river path and see if you can find the fairy village.
