Newcastle West Tidy Towns has been in existence for more than 50 years. Throughout our history we have taken part in the annual Tidy Towns Competition.
We now hold 6 Bronze Medals and strive to move up to the Silver and Gold Medal level. In the early years the focus was on issues such as planting schemes along with litter prevention/management.
In more recent years our activities have grown to include making the streetscape more beautiful by working with businesses and residents. We work closely with Limerick City and County Council, Arra Development Co., and other voluntary groups such as NCW Development Association, NCW Community Council and NCW Arts in pursuing our aims.
Protecting the environment and sustainability are part and parcel of our ethos, e.g. minimising waste and encouraging upcycling/recycling. Educating the public of all ages is central to our activities.
