Castleconnell, a beautiful location on the River Shannon, about 10 kms north east of Limerick City and tidal water, is one of the most prestigious Salmon Fisheries in Ireland.
Please note salmon stocks and conservation is actively managed in the Shannon Region and angling for salmon is permitted under the wild salmon and sea trout tagging scheme. Please visit www.fishinginireland.info for further information.
The Fishery is about 4.5 miles long comprising 6 beats, each permitting 4 rods per beat. Each beat has up to six or more pools. The Fishery operates from sunrise to sunset seven days a week from February 1st to end of season September 30th. On a good year up to 200 spring salmon can be taken here, averaging about 10-12lbs.
While it is better known as a Salmon fishery, pike fishing is also possible upstream of Beat 1 on Castleconnell Salmon Fishery. There is a public car park here and open bank fishing is possible upstream of the car park.
