The Irish Palatine Heritage Centre is located in Rathkeale in Co. Limerick, Ireland and houses an exhibition that seeks to re-present in detail the Irish Palatine experience ranging from their German places of origin, to their colonisation and settlement in Ireland, and their subsequent scattering all over the English speaking world.
In 1709 several hundred families from the German Palatinate settled in Ireland. Known as the Irish Palatines these families established roots in counties Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary & Wexford, but mainly in the Rathkeale area of County Limerick.
This exhibition tells their story placing due emphasis on their innovative contributions to Irish farming life and on their formative role in the development of world of Methodism.
The exhibition is housed in the Rathkeale Station House on the Limerick Greenway and has an exhibition which includes a library, archive, tea-room and gift selection.
