Nestled in the countryside, Ballyhoura Forest Park has so many activity choices that it warrants a day or weekend trip. Home to Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Park with the largest mountain bike trail network of its kind in Ireland, two looped walking trails, two orienteering courses and a 2km nature trail, ideal for children with information points and woodland animals for children to investigate.
Cycling
The Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Park is a 98km trail system starting and finishing at a trail head near the village of Ardpatrick Co. Limerick, including forest road climbs, tight twisty single track with loads of ups and downs, board walk, tight turns and technical rocky bits are guaranteed to leave you smiling!
Walking
For the walker there are waymaked trails that allow you to explore Ballyhoura Forest Park. Currently, there are two looped walking trails, starting and finishing at the main trailhead. The Greenwood Trail (4.8 km, 1hr 50 mins, moderate) is a delightful trek through the forest taking in local streams. The 11km Blackrock Loop Walk takes in spectacular views of all six counties of Munster from its highest peak.
Orienteering

Explore Nature
The Ballyhoura Nature Trail, located at the Ballyhoura Forest Park is a 40 minute/ 5km investigation of over 20 hidden creatures in the woods that kiddies have to uncover on their walk.
