The Clare Glens is a wooded area along the banks of the Clare River, which separates counties Limerick and Tipperary. The scenery is breathtaking, with wild dense forest combined with the calm rushing of the crystal clear waters.
Crystal clear waters of Clare river flow through dense forest in a red sandstone gorge to create a truly beautiful setting. The numerous waterfalls which flow through the sandstone also help to make this loop walk incredibly picturesque.
The river flowing through the area surrounding this trail marks the border between Tipperary and Limerick so as you cross over bridges, you’re also crossing county lines.
Note that there are two route options on this loop. You’ll meet a wooden footbridge along the trail where the 2 km Nature Loop turns rights and brings you back to the trailhead. The 4 km Glen Loop proceeds straight ahead. Whichever one you choose, you’re in for a treat on this family-friendly mini-adventure!
