Southill Hub

  • Southill hub

Southill Hub is a not for profit Community Centre which serves the Southill community. The Hub (originally called the Southill Area Centre) opened its doors in 2008 and has been a key service to the community since.

In 2018, we celebrated our 10th birthday and relaunched as the Southill Hub. The Hub runs a Youth Work Programme (SouthillClub2gether), a community café (The Hill Café), a community garden and sports hall. We also have meeting rooms and a computer room available to community groups and community organisations. Southill Hub also offers office space to community based organisations

Mission: Southill Hub aims to provide an open and safe space for the community of Southill to develop educational, recreational and social opportunities in a healthy environment.

Community Garden - Southill Hub

In 2010, we created the Community Garden, a quiet space to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Barbara, our Community Gardener is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays for any gardening queries you may have. She has all sorts of fruit, vegetables, flowers and herbs growing; with the Hill Café benefiting from the fruits of Barbara’s labour. Towards the end of summer she makes her own jam, it is well worth tasting!

The Hill Café

The Hill Café serves affordable and hearty meals, breakfasts, sandwiches and delicious home baked desserts. We are open Monday to Friday. We also cater for many external functions, either hot or cold, so call 061 603710 to order food for any party/event you are having.

Youth Work  - Southill Club2gether

Club2gether, Southills Youth Work Programme was established in 2009 as a mainstream service for young people. We aim to provide an open safe space for young people of Southill to access educational, recreational and social opportunities.

We work with an average of 100 young people a week from the local community, ranging in age from 7 – 25 years. We provide activity based youth clubs and a range of programmes to our members, including skills based programmes

We have a number of community based organisations operating from Southill Hub:

Southill Afterschools

The Southill After Schools Club provides homework support for children aged between 5 – 12 years. The club runs Monday to Thursday during term time.  We also provide education and training for adults who participate on a C.E. Scheme.

By operating from a community setting we can provide new opportunities for individuals to develop their personal skills and provide a variety of activities and programmes.

Extern

Garda Youth Diversion Projects are local community-based activities which work with children. The projects aim to help young people move away from behaving in a way that might get them, or their friends, into trouble with the law. They can help children develop their sense of community and their social skills through different activities.
