Foynes Woodland
Although relatively small, Foynes Woodland is a unique site that offers the visitor a great opportunity to take some time out and soak up what nature has to offer.
For walkers there are some twisty paths to explore that offer fantastic views out over the estuary.
For the nature enthusiast, the range of tree species includes Beech, Sycamore, Birch, Douglas Fir and Scot's Pine. From Poultallin Point scan the waters for bottle-nosed dolphins.
Gardens
Boyce Gardens and Knockpatrick Gardens, both overlooking the scenic Shannon Estuary, are a haven for gardening enthusiasts.
Boyce Gardens is designed for year round colour - divided into a number of intimate garden rooms interlinked by curved paths. The garden will stimulate interest and offer inspiration to the keen plants person or novice gardener.
Knockpatrick Gardens is divided into different levels with pools and water features among the plants. There are many large mature trees including maples, red horse chestnut, palm, oak, monkey puzzle, cedar and magnolia.
Stonehall Wildlife Park
Located in a tranquil and beautiful rural setting in County Limerick, running parallel to Curraghchase Forest Park and fifteen minutes from Foynes, Stonehall Wildlife Park guarantees a great day out for all ages. Hosts to a wide variety of rare and domestic animals including llamas, alpacas, ostriches, emus, rheas and a large variety of parrots & birds of prey.
Curraghchase Forest Park
Curraghchase Forest Park is a fantastic amenity for all the family to enjoy. The Park covers 313 hectares of mixed woodlands, park land and lakes which together provide a rich habitat for a diverse range of animals and plants. There are a number of looped way marked trails in the park to suit all visitors and The Arboretum Trail offers an opportunity to stroll through the old arboretum of Curraghchase and see the many trees that grow in the south west of the country.
