The ancient town of Askeaton is a popular stop for history lovers and boasts one of the most complete ruins of a Medieval Abbey in the country (Askeaton Franciscan Friary).

Set on the banks of the Deel River, Askeaton Playground is a lovely setting for a picnic, and is within walking distance of the historic Askeaton town centre.
Curraghchase Forest Park is a fantastic amenity for all the family to enjoy. The park covers 313 hectares of mixed woodlands, park land and lakes which together provide a rich habitat for a diverse range of animals and plants.
The Limerick Greenway, a former railway line which stretches for 40km from Rathkeale to beyond Abbeyfeale, can be accessed at a number of points along the way and is free-of-charge to use. Visitors to Askeaton can access the Greenway in the neighbouring town of Rathkeale (10.5km).
