    Askeaton

Believed to the oldest town in County Limerick, the ancient town of Askeaton is located on the banks of the Deel River.

Rich in history and ancient archaeological remains, the castle in the centre of the town dates back to 1199, and the Franciscan Friary, from 1389, is one of the most complete ruins of a Medieval Abbey in the country.
