October is Ireland’s National Reuse Month, and Limerick City and County Council is marking this with the Reopen with Reuse Webinar on Wednesday 29th September at 7pm. Sorcha Kavanagh of the Conscious Cup campaign will demystify everything about using a reusable cup.

If you are a local business serving coffee, a coffee connoisseur or maybe even a coffee addict this is the webinar for you.

It will give you the tools to use your reusable cup safely in and you will be invited to take on this one simple climate action.

Sorcha Kavanagh of the Conscious Cup campaign said: “The cafe and food to-go sector use a vast amount of single use packaging but there are more sustainable reusable options. Supporting businesses to move towards the Circular Economy and changing consumer behaviour is what I enjoy most. I work with businesses, communities, campuses, government bodies and consumers.  I am delighted to give this Reopen with Reuse webinar to all those who enjoy a coffee or who are in the business of serving take-out hot drinks in Limerick.”

Sinead Mc Donnell Environment Awareness Officer, Limerick City and County Council added that Reuse is about valuing our things, by using and reusing them for as long and as often as possible: “I would encourage as many businesses serving take out beverages, the general public and our Limerick Tidy Towns groups to register for the Reopen with Reuse webinar. Sorcha is part of the Government’s Advisory Group working on Ireland’s Waste Action Plan for a Circular Economy. I am looking forward to this webinar, Sorcha has a passion for waste reduction and reuse, and triggering change to create 'what we call conscious consumerism.”

“This avoids the need to extract raw materials, manufacture and distribute new stuff, and avoids waste thereby cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions. This might sound like stepping back in time, to when post-war frugality meant that people held on to things for longer, passed on things they no longer needed and recycled everything from curtains to car parts. But this campaign is targeted at a generation that grew up in a consumer culture that didn’t consider where things came from or went to after their use or the environmental consequences of using up primary resources.”

The webinar will be hosted on zoom and all are welcome.
