The Mayor of the City and County of Limerick has congratulated the Limerick District League is winning the Oscar Traynor Trophy over the weekend.
Mayor James Collins said: “I’m delighted for the players of Janesboro who stepped into play as the Limerick District League in winning this competition.
“The Oscar Traynor Trophy is always a very difficult tournament to win as you are facing the best players from all the other leagues across the country, so huge congratulations goes to the Janesboro side, who took on the task of representing Limerick District League along with their own local, provincial and national fixtures.
“The trophy is a testament of their hard work and team unity which is key to Janesboro’s success. The win is the first time since 1996 that Limerick DL has won the trophy.
“A special reception will be organised for the victorious squad and backroom team by Limerick City and County Council soon to mark their wonderful achievement.”
