Limerick City and County Council is delighted to announce the allocation of over €1.4 million for the refurbishment and renovation of 19 community centres throughout the county.
The funding is part of a nationwide initiative announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Dara Calleary, allocating over €26 million for the improvement and refurbishment of 369 community centres across Ireland.
This funding will significantly improve the facilities and support the ongoing development of vibrant, inclusive communities.
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran commented:
"This is really an investment in our local communities and it recognises the importance of community centres in bringing communities together. This funding will ensure improvement works so that these centres remain welcoming and functional spaces for all residents."
Príomh Comhairleoir of Limerick City and County Council, Cllr Dan McSweeney, highlighted the broader impact of the funding:
"Community centres are the heart of our towns and villages. This funding will not only enhance the physical infrastructure but also strengthen the social fabric of our communities by providing improved spaces for activities, events, and services."
Director General of Limerick City and County Council, Dr. Pat Daly added:
"This is a significant investment by the government, supporting local communities and enhancing the quality of life for all citizens. The allocation of these funds will allow communities to upgrade facilities, making them more accessible and better equipped to serve the diverse needs of local residents."
