Limerick City and County Council is delighted with the success of the latest chapter of the Limerick Student City campaign, which has once again highlighted the vibrant off-campus experiences awaiting students in Limerick.

The eight-week campaign led by Limerick City and County Council’s Marketing & Communications Department, in partnership with Limerick’s tertiary educational institutions, promoted Limerick as a “home away from home” for new and returning domestic and international students.

Limerick’s rich culture and vibrant events calendar provide endless opportunities for students to engage and thrive, enhancing their experience in Limerick, while seeking to integrate students into the broader community.

The campaign, running throughout the start of the academic year, was met with enthusiastic participation from students across Limerick.

Dedicated digital content was developed to reach wider audiences across Limerick.ie social channels, resulting in a reach of 732,844 with 353,069 impressions and more than 1.1 million video plays.

The team from the Council’s Marketing and Communications Department engaged with thousands of students during campus visits to University of Limerick, Technological University of the Shannon and Mary Immaculate College.

As part of the campaign, students were encouraged to participate in a social media competition for a chance to win an iPad.

Limerick City and County Council is pleased to congratulate the winner, TUS student, Alana O’Donnell from Limerick.

Donn O’Sullivan, Head of Marketing and Communications at Limerick City and County Council commented,

“We are thrilled with the response to this year’s Limerick Student City campaign. Our students bring a unique energy to Limerick, and it’s wonderful to see them exploring and enjoying all that our city and county has to offer. We hope the memories they create here will last a lifetime.”

Earlier this year, Limerick City and County Council secured a silver award for Limerick Student City in the Best Multi-Platform Campaign (In-House) category at the National Social Media Awards or Sockies 2024, which celebrates excellence in social media.

The recognition at the Sockies Awards underscores Limerick City and County Council’s innovative approach to social media and a dedication to sharing and promoting our vibrant city and county through impactful storytelling.
