In recent days, an error in the online reporting of air quality has been identified for Limerick City.
The Microsoft desktop widget for air quality (MSN Weather Maps) has indicated very poor air quality across Limerick City, specifically for fine particulates (PM 2.5).
We would like to clarify that the air quality in Limerick City is good based on the Air Quality Index for Health, and PM 2.5 levels are low. The Council cannot verify measurements reported by Microsoft and the data displayed in the MSN Weather Maps is not an accurate reflection of the air quality for the city.
Limerick City and County Council, along with the Environmental Protection Agency, continuously monitor air quality in Limerick City and provide real-time data online.
For the most reliable and up-to-date information on air quality and forecasts, please visit www.airquality.ie and www.airqweb.ie.
Limerick City and County Council has contacted Microsoft in relation to this matter.
We appreciate your understanding and encourage residents to use the aforementioned websites for accurate air quality information.
