CultureMee has been selected as a finalist in the Global Youth Travel Awards in the category Best Travel Technology Product by the World Youth & Student Travel Conference.
Dee Lee, CEO of CultureMee said: “This means so much to John and I to be recognised by the Global Youth Travel Awards. Doing any start-up is full of highs and lows, and the last few months have given us real confidence in what we are trying to do with CultureMee.
“Our vision is to open people’s eyes to other cultures, the inspiration for which actually came from our time backpacking. So to be nominated as a finalist in these awards representing youth travel represents a major step in our journey, on top of earlier this year being a finalist in the National Start-up Awards of Ireland.
“We’d like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who has been part of the journey with us so far, from people who have checked out our app to people who have shown their support on social media. A special thank you to all the friends, family and mentors who have been there for us along the road. John and I would like to say good luck also to the other finalists Travello App and World Around Me, and thank you to the WYSTC for nominating us as a finalist."
John Lee, co-founder of CultureMee said: "We'd like to say a special thank you to the Limerick and Leitrim Local Enterprise Offices who have been a wonderful support to Dee and I over the last few years. The LEOs play a crucial role in the Irish start-up ecosystem and would be the first place we'd point other budding entrepreneurs to. We have learned so much along the journey, so if we can ever share any of our lessons learned with any other Limerick start-ups, we'd be happy to help out."
The 2018 Global Youth Travel Awards (GYTAs) will be hosted as part of this year’s World Youth and Student Travel Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland.
